POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Early Childhood Programmer leads the tuition based teaching staff. The Early childhood Programmer cultivates positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities and community partners. They assist with recruiting and retaining highly qualified staff and maintain consistency with work assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood or a related field, with a minimum of five years of experience in child care, social work, human services, education, family services, or a related field. Must meet Program Director qualifications as defined by LARA.
  • Experience with early childhood tuition-based programming is preferred.
  • Experience and familiarity with High Scope, COR, PQA, and ASQ preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and implement state licensing regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
  • Ability to provide direction and reflective supervision to staff and facilitate personal development in the interest of achieving program goals.
  • Ability to handle stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional skills including but not limited to tact, punctuality and dependability.
  • Demonstrated skills in working with a variety of family-types, personnel, and community groups.
  • An ability to work a full-time schedule from 9:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. year-round, which may sometimes include evening events or flexing hours to attend early morning obligations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead tuition-based teaching staff and provide professional development opportunities that foster quality programming and positive working relationships.
  • Provide challenging behavior interventions for children and push-in classroom support/family resources as necessary.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities and community partners.
  • Assist with recruiting and retaining highly qualified staff; maintain consistency with work assignments.
  • Maintain tuition-based enrollment documentation (as set forth by licensing, MCIR, etc.); facilitate student placements and transitions.
  • Ensure a safe environment (licensing compliance)
  • Communicate monthly (program-wide) with tuition-based families.
  • Work collaboratively with all early childhood programs including GSRP, Early Intervention, ECSE and preschool.
  • Establish and maintain relationships and collaborations with Huron Valley School District partners and colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Early Childhood.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma and/or related experience.

LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
