What are the responsibilities and job description for the Geotechnical Construction Testing & Inspection Technician position at Hurt & Proffitt?
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Construction Testing & Inspection Technician experienced in testing and inspection of concrete along with being proficient in interpretation of site and structural plans in our Blacksburg, Virginia office. This role will include fieldwork that may involve lifting equipment, standing, bending, stooping, or climbing rough terrain, as well as working in a standard office environment. The position may also require proximity to a drill rig and exposure to high noise levels from equipment operation. Competency in masonry, asphalt, and special inspections is desired.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in testing and inspection of earthwork and concrete
- Ability to work in varying environments including fieldwork and office settings
- Competency in masonry, asphalt, and special inspections is preferred
- Physical ability to lift 60 lbs., stand, bend, stoop, and climb over rough terrain
- Flexibility to work overtime based on project needs
- Willingness to work in high noise level environments near equipment operation
Responsibilities:
- Conduct testing and inspection of earthwork and concrete
- Perform masonry, asphalt, and special inspections as needed
- Work in both field and office settings as required by projects
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure quality standards are met
- Maintain accurate records of testing and inspection results
Please note that work hours for this position are project-dependent, and overtime should be expected, especially during peak construction seasons. Daily staffing will be from our office, with occasional opportunities for short-duration regional work. A company vehicle will be provided, as well as the opportunity to obtain certifications required for this position.
