Department: Handheld Raw Materials

Supervise the day-to-day activities of 1st Shift handheld raw materials warehouse operations including planning, organizing and controlling productivity to ensure goods are produced/received/managed/shipped efficiently, on time, within budget and to standard. 

People management responsibilities include training, planning and assigning daily work, addressing performance issues and resolving problems. The supervisor is to work continuously towards making the organization more effective and productive, through utilization of business processes, common tools and business practices as well as looking for new and innovative ways to get work done in a safe and timely manner.

Essential Duties:
 

  • Learn and interact with warehouse management system to ensure productivity and quality standards are obtained.
  • Analyze department production specifications and capacity data to determine processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
  • Troubleshoots operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Prepare and measure productivity reports to ensure that production schedules are attained daily while meeting safety, cost and quality objectives.
  • Coach, train, develop and discipline employees to achieve facility goals and objectives.
  • Pro-actively use Lean tools to improve operating efficiency, reduce costs and improve quality and safety results.
  • Utilize accurate measurement tools to track area’s key indices to identify unfavorable trends and to take corrective action.
  • Plans, schedules, coordinates and assigns work and establishes goals and priorities for department objectives.
  • Ensure quality standards are utilizing proper training, as well as random spot checks for adherence to guidelines and standards and provide necessary feedback.
  • Ensure associates are tasks within allowable time standards in order to maintain on-time performance.
  • Ability to read departmental and product data sheets and confirm conformance to guidelines and specifications.
  • Implements measures to improve productivity, equipment performance and quality of product; develops and oversees changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the department.
  • Plans priorities and the sequence of departmental tasks
  • Responsible for the quantity and quality of production from warehouse operations
  • Resolves operations and maintenance problems to prevent delays
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure safe operation and optimum performance and utilization
  • Provide leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices. 
  • Recommend methods for improving associate efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment. 
  • Maintain and enhance existing safety policies and procedures for the distribution center operations. 
  • Continuously improve operations through the use of lean enterprise practices.
  • Perform root cause analysis on department discrepancies by interacting with team members and other departments.
  • Ensure Key Performance Indicator (KPI) goals are set, maintained and tracked daily for improvements.  KPIs include: production attainment, line utilization, safety incident prevention and overtime management.
  • Maintain high level of Quality, Customer Service, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage a safe work environment by advocating safety training, accident preparedness, and compliance with Company, OSHA, and other standards and regulations. Ensures adherence to proper safety and sanitation regulations and the appropriate policies/procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with peers, team and senior management in order to communicate effectively and strategically implement solutions.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, developing accountability in associates, and measuring results.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as required by senior management.

What We Are Looking For:

  • High School Diploma.   Minimum with 1-3 years related experience is required. Associates degree in Business preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership and effective teamwork and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Good organizational and oral/written communication skills are required.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are required. 
  • A demonstrated willingness for continual learning and skill development is required.
  • Strong personal computer skills.
  • Ability to work overtime, off shifts, and weekends as needed.
  • A demonstrated willingness for continual learning and skill development is required.
  • Willingness to travel is required.
  • Experience in applying lean manufacturing skills and principles are desired, along with formal training.

Desired

  • Knowledge of Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Standards.
  • Green/Black Belt Certificate.
