Job Description:
The Installation Department Manager will oversee the operation of the installation department, managing quotes, bids, staffing, and fulfillment of Hussmann equipment installations for internal and external customers. This role requires strong leadership skills, knowledge of commercial refrigeration, and experience in management/supervisory functions.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the installation department P&L by estimating job sites and floor plans to establish equitable quotations.
• Assist Sales and Engineering departments in reviewing drawings and floor plans during the initial project phase and communicate with them as needed.
• Assign internal personnel, including foremen and technicians, and coordinate subcontractors and contractors for successful installations.
• Oversee all aspects of contracting, carpentry work, electrical, and piping, ensuring compliance with government EPA-CFC regulations and safety standards.
• Conduct regular site visits, inspections, and meetings to ensure understanding of regulations among project team members.
• Work with the Service Department to transfer warranty work, monitor outstanding work, and complete tasks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support billing by ensuring timely and accurate completion of documents, electronic communication, and requirements for invoicing.
• Maintain customer focus and relationships by contacting current and potential customers to encourage future development and sustainability of the installation business.
• Monitor equipment status through inspections and maintained logs and inventory on a regular basis.
• Promote safety in the department by conducting safety walks and checks, and weekly safety meetings.
Qualifications:
High School or Bachelor's Degree required; five years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree and minimum five years of experience. Desired qualifications include working knowledge of basic refrigeration, applicable licenses and certifications, and strong leadership and business acumen.
