About The Role
The Procurement Manager, reporting to the Director, Facility Development, will be the cornerstone of Hut 8’s procurement function, owning and overseeing the procurement lifecycle for major infrastructure and data center development projects. This individual will serve as the ultimate source of truth for all procurement needs — from planning and sourcing to budgeting and delivery — across current and future projects.
With a focus on power-intensive infrastructure, this role demands a professional who understands the landscape of heavy equipment, electrical components, substation and switchyard related infrastructure, cooling infrastructure, and power distribution. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, capable of navigating volatile supply chains, managing lead times, and establishing deep relationships with key suppliers and vendors in the data center and energy markets.

Some of the key responsibilities you should expect are the following:
Vendor & Supplier Management
- Build and maintain a strong network of trusted suppliers, OEMs, manufacturers, and equipment dealers across energy and data center verticals.
- Evaluate and qualify new vendors, negotiate contract terms, and maintain ongoing performance benchmarks to ensure quality and reliability.
- Lead RFQs, RFPs, and negotiations for critical equipment and infrastructure components.
- Procure heavy and medium equipment including transformers, switchgear, power distribution panels, generators, UPS systems, and substation equipment.
- Ensure timely procurement of cable, conduit, protective relays, SCADA systems, fiber infrastructure, and other key build-out components.
- Maintain real-time visibility on lead times, delivery schedules, and cost escalations, and communicate proactively with project stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain detailed procurement budgets, aligned with project-level capital expenditure (CapEx) and operational expenditure (OpEx) plans.
- Track and report on procurement-related spend and savings opportunities.
- Partner with finance and project leads to manage change orders, cost overruns, and risk exposure.
- Implement and continuously improve Hut 8’s procurement policies, standards, and documentation workflows.
- Ensure all purchases comply with contractual obligations, technical specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure proper alignment between engineering, construction, legal, and finance teams.
- Coordinate closely with project managers and construction leads to align procurement timelines with field execution needs.
- Troubleshoot supply chain issues, backorders, or substitutions in real time to avoid delays in construction and commissioning.
- Conduct regular site visits and supplier facility checks, as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 3 years of experience in procurement, ideally in data center development, industrial infrastructure, or power generation sectors.
- Proven success sourcing and managing equipment and materials for electrical infrastructure projects, including substations and transmission systems.
- Deep understanding of supplier dynamics, lead time planning, and CapEx management.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, and BOMs.
