Job Summary :

The State and Local Tax (SALT) Associate assists clients with various tax issues related to state and local taxes, helping businesses comply with state-specific tax regulations and optimize their tax positions.

Essential Functions : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent job’s essential functions.   • Conducts research on state and local tax laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Analyzes the tax implications of clients' business activities across different jurisdictions.
  • Prepares and review state and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Assists in the calculation of state and local income, sales, and use taxes.
  • Help clients identify tax-saving opportunities through effective planning and structuring.

Client Relationship Management :

  • Clearly communicate recommendations both verbally and in writing.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Successfully identify accounting, business, and tax issues / opportunities and develop solutions / recommendations.
  • Administrative Tasks

  • Works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Follow all Firm policies and procedures.
  • Enter time daily to ensure current and accurate tracking of hours.
  • Assign hours to each client to ensure accurate billing.
  • Follow safety rules according with the Firm’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
  • Marginal Functions

  • Accepts special projects as assigned
  • Job Requirements : To perform this job successfully, the individual must meet the following education, licenses and certifications, experience, and skills requirements.

    Education

  • Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required : Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; MBA a plus.
  • Licenses and Certifications

  • CPA certification (preferred).
  • Experience

  • Minimum Experience required : 2 years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 1 years of State & Local Tax experience (preferred).
  • Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of accounting theory and accounting practices.
  • Strong understanding of the rules, regulations, and code of conduct.
  • Strong proficiency in state and local tax matters.
  • Ability to prepare and respond to technical correspondence from taxing authorities.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  • Strong abilities with various accounting systems.
  • Interpersonal Skills

  • High level of enthusiasm to work collaboratively in a team environment to meet and exceed expectations for internal and external clients.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work with minimal direction in a high-pressure environment.
  • Works independently and is self-motivated to complete tasks and assignments with a minimum amount of supervision and is flexible to accept tasks and projects.
  • Upholds the professional standards of conduct for respectful behavior and demonstrates a high degree of personal integrity.

  • The compensation for this position ranges from $55,000 - $85,000. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills, licensure, and certifications.

    Salary : $55,000 - $85,000
