What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Athletic Trainer (ADM3035) position at Hutchinson Community College?
The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Athletic Trainer shall be, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions –
- Recruit student athletic trainers.
- Oversee and manage the athletic training room.
- Monitor and oversee the student athletic trainers.
- Assist in arranging the schedule of all student athletic trainers.
- Supervise student athletes in athletic training room.
- Coordinate the maintenance and upkeep of the athletic training room.
- Manage the athletic training equipment.
- Keep accurate records of all athletic training room activity.
- Provide for all rehabilitation of student athletes.
- Ensure all medical records are on file.
- Maintain current certification of athletic trainer.
- Assist in hosting all visiting trainers and their needs.
- Serve actively on campus committees.
- Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
- Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.
Secondary –
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Coordinator of Sports Medicine.
QUALIFICATIONS (Essential):
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Certification.
- CPR / AED Certification preferred..
- Valid Driver’s License accepted by our HCC Insurance.
- A working knowledge of common medical terminology.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build professional relationships and work effectively with students, staff, community members and others.
- Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
- Physical requirements include excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; this position is rated at the medium level with both an indoor/outdoor work environment; the ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; Use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations

Preferred Qualifications –
- Master’s Degree.
- CPR / AED Instructor Certification.
- Experience Working at the collegiate level.
SALARY and STATUS:
The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by the HutchCC administration. This full-time administrative staff position is 12 months annual, benefit eligible, and exempt.
