RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions –
- Teach assigned courses in one of the below listed disciplines.
- Plan and implement appropriate activities to supplement instruction.
- Maintain records and files as requested by the department, including submitting grade sheets in a timely manner.
- Logon to the learning management system daily, respond to emails regularly and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
- Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
- Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures and practices.
Secondary –
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ADN Faculty:
- Master’s Degree in nursing required; BSN with 3 years of experience or current progress towards an MSN may be considered.
- Current Kansas license to practice professional nursing.
- Clinical and/or teaching experience preferred.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push/pull, carry, etc.; excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills; excellent organizational skills; ability and willingness to collaborate; ability to work independently; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations;. Light to moderate, indoor work environment
PN Faculty:
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing required. (ADN may be considered with current progress towards a BSN).
- Current unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the state of Kansas required.
HCT–CNA Faculty:
- KS LPN or RN unencumbered license, renewed every 2 years. License must not have any pending or current disciplinary actions and
- Minimum of two years full-time licensed nursing experience (LPN or RN) including one of the following:
- At least 1,750 hours of that experience must be as a licensed nurse in a setting which demonstrates long-term nursing care, such as an adult care home, long term care unit of a hospital or a state institution for the mentally retarded or
- complete at least 7 hours professional continuing education in “Person Centered Care for the Adult Care Home” in the last year. (This must be completed on annual basis).
HCT–CMA Faculty:
- KS RN unencumbered license, renewed every 2 years.
HIM/Coding:
- Must have an AHIMA credential.
- Two years recent work experience in the Health Information Management field.
Cancer Registry:
- Must have an ODS CTR from NCRA.
- Two years recent work experience in the Cancer Registry field.
Physical Therapist (PT)/Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA):
- An associate degree for PTA’s and a Master's or Doctorate for PT's.
- An active, unrestricted PT/PTA license/certificate in the State of Kansas.
- A minimum of one year of work experience as PT/PTA and have contemporary expertise in assigned teaching areas and demonstrate effectiveness in both teaching and evaluation of student learning.
Surgical Technology:
- Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
- Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA). ARC/STSA Best Practice Guide – ST Board Approved 12.21 Page 11.
- Have a minimum total of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years. Persons approved as didactic/clinical faculty and/or instructional staff under previous Standards will continue to be approved in that position at that institution.
Respiratory Care:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Registered respiratory therapist through the NBRC credentialing process.
- Have a valid RT license in Kansas.
Radiologic Technology
- Holds academic and/or professional credentials
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Teaching qualifications may be different depending on course(s) hired to teach.
- To instruct transfer courses, a Master’s degree in discipline is required or a Master’s degree in another field may be considered in addition to a minimum of 18 graduate credits in discipline for which hired.
- To instruct technical courses, relevant work experience, degree, industry-recognized credential/certification, professional development, and achievements may all be considered to meet qualification requirements.
- College teaching experience preferred.
- Ability and willingness to teach via alternative delivery systems.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships.
- Ability to communicate professionally with individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, gender and disabilities populations.
- Physical requirements include: excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills; ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; light/indoor work environment.
- Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.

SALARY and STATUS:
The salary is based on the part-time faculty compensation plan. This part-time position is not benefit eligible; exempt.
