EEHSS Specialist
Facility: Trenton Plants
General Description
The EEHSS Specialist will support Hutchinson Industries, Inc. (HII) health, safety, environmental, energy/sustainability processes to ensure compliance with all applicable EEHSS legal and other requirements and achieve world-class performance. The EEHSS Specialist will work proactively with managers and employees to establish and maintain a system that promotes a culture of safety.
Specific Duties
- Provides EEHSS guidance, advice and direction to all staff members while maintaining a visible presence in the workplace and developing a working relationship with all managers and employees.
- Works with the Hutchinson Defense & Mobility EHS Manager to develop and implement Hutchinson Group HSE initiatives.
- Supports a comprehensive risk assessment process and supports EHS risk assessment efforts for both new and existing processes.
- Performs EEHSS compliance audits/assessments of facility and contractor work activities.
- Works with the EHS Manager to ensure that all key EEHSS operational controls are in place and that EEHSS actions items are resolved on a timely basis.
- Coordinates HII safety programs including respiratory protection, hazard communication, confined space, forklift safety and other regulatory required programs.
- Assists with executing industrial hygiene sampling plans and supports consultants performing surveys including atmospheric sampling and noise dosimetry testing.
- Conducts ergonomic assessments to identify high risk tasks and recommend corrective actions.
- Audit’s contractor EEHSS performance and provides feedback which could include corrective action plans if contractor EEHSS performance is unacceptable.
- Conducts emergency response training, exercises, and drills and implements appropriate emergency response improvement action plans.
- Assists in the performance of incident investigations and root cause analyses to prevent reoccurrence of EEHSS events and near misses.
- Leads and/or participates in the investigation of employee concerns, EEHSS incidents, and employee observations, near misses, along with corrective action development, implementation, and follow-up.
- Supports the Management of Change and the Degraded Mode processes.
- Supports the Hutchinson Dangerous Situation program to ensure timely completion of EEHSS related items.
- Delivers effective EEHSS training and tracks the completion of all required EEHSS training.
- Supports the EHS Leadership Team by establishing agenda items, documenting agreements, tracking on-going action items, and initiating sub-committees when necessary.
- Establishes and promotes the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions and recommends measures to reduce or eliminate industrial injuries and health hazards.
- Performs site EEHSS inspections and audits monthly to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
- Conducts site audits, evaluates plant's compliance with environmental regulations and identifies areas of improvement.
- Implements environmental solutions and drives changes in manufacturing processes / systems that lead to reduction in environmental waste streams.
- Supports systems to track necessary data for energy and environmental reports, along with timely report submittal.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Engineering from an accredited institution is desired.
- Additional professional qualifications in EEHSS such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or OSHA 30-hour certification is desired.
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in environmental, occupational health and safety is desired.
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001/45001/50001 management systems, Occupational health and safety regulations, state and federal environmental requirements, industrial hygiene, energy systems, etc. is desired

The employee frequently is required to sit; walk, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, for viewing a computer terminal distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception vision for driving and ability to adjust focus.
This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions

- Safety Glasses conforming to ANSI Z87.1 or higher
- Steel Toe Safety Shoes conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910
