Quality Management Systems Lead

Facility:           Trenton Plants

General Description

The Quality Lead position is a hands-on position. The Quality Lead is responsible for ensuring the management of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements for the organization per the customer requirements are met. The position requires monitoring all facets of the production process, including raw material certifications, in-process quality controls, work instructions, and final inspections and/or certifications as required by the customer.

Specific Duties

• Monitor workplace operations for compliance with all environmental, health, and safety rules and procedures and immediately respond to any non-conformances.
• Perform risk assessments and consult with workers on environmental, health, and safety issues.
• Ensure the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of the processes needed for the quality management system;
• Report to Quality and Top management on the performance of the quality management system including the need for improvement; and
• Verify all inspection records for PPAP/FAI requirements to ensure their integrity and that all material specifications have been met.
• Monitor all quality control inspections throughout the production process to ensure PPAP/FAI requirements are met.
• Ensure that all quality measuring devices are regularly calibrated when utilized for the PPAP/FAI documentation.
• Keep PPAP/FAI files including materials records and quality control reports related to order.
• Issue the final inspection report and/or sign-off for each PPAP/FAI completed.   The position holds final authority to detain or release PPAP/FAI orders for shipment.
• Communicate all quality issues to management promptly, along with recommendations for any corrective actions that may be necessary.
• Travel as required.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree or equivalent 4 years of work experience as a PPAP coordinator, Quality Lead, Quality Supv., ISO/AS9100 Auditor
• Experience in ISO-certified organization.
• Ability to read drawings and certifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Customer oriented.
• ASQ Certifications in Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, Quality Inspector, Quality Auditor, Six Sigma, preferred, but not required.
• Three plus years of experience working in a quality inspection or supervisory role, following and enforcing compliance or customer-specified requirements.
• Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

The employee frequently is required to sit; walk, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, lift, and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, for viewing a computer terminal distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception vision for driving, and the ability to adjust focus.

This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions

The following list of PPE is required while in the manufacturing area. 

• Safety Glasses conforming to ANSI Z87.1 or higher 
• Steel Toe Safety Shoes conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910 
• Hearing protection conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910
