ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure proper patient identity by checking two forms of identification per hospital policy, and confirming physician orders.
- Attend and complete all mandatory meetings and in-services, as well as assigned continuing education.
- Complete and maintain departmental competency checklists.
- Effectively utilize resources and time.
- Identify and report issues and concerns to effectively solve problems.
- Show interest, and actively participate in Process Improvement projects, both departmentally and hospital wide.
- Be able to collaborate with others in a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Demonstrate an ability to effectively listen and communicate with medical professionals, students, patients and families.
- Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Serve a population newborn through geriatric.
- Other duties as required.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Demonstrates knowledge of human anatomy and proper radiological positioning in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Demonstrates competency in ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Completes continuing education biannually in accordance with Kansas State and ARRT regulations for current licensing and registration purposes.
- Demonstrates ability to verify physician orders, insure proper reason for procedures and safely administer imaging contrast agents.
- Effectively communicates the exam requirements, risks and benefits in order to ease anxiety and obtain informed consent.
- Uses proper radiation protection techniques in order to minimize radiation dose to patients, fetus, staff, and self in accordance with the ALARA principle.
- Demonstrates leadership skills.
- Mentors other staff members and students.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in Radiologic Technology.
- Demonstrated proficiency in general OR and at least one specialty area in the OR.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Two years clinical experience post-graduation preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography and CT, ARRT (R) (CT)
- Licensed by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts (LRT) preferred.
- Healthcare Provider BLS through AHA or ARC before start date.
