What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director- Adult Community Support Services-Horizons position at Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System?
The Director of the Community Support Services (CSS) Department shall provide consultation to and supervision of the clinical work of employees in the department. shall provide oversight of all services, duties and responsibilities of the department. The Director will also serve as a member of the Leadership Team of Horizons Mental Health Center (HMHC).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as direct Administrative and Clinical Supervisor for the CSS Department.
- Provides direct oversight to Managers and Supervisors that report to them.
- Serves as a member of the Leadership Team of HMHC which includes the CEO, Clinical Director, Medical Director and the Directors of other Departments. This group meets regularly to manage the clinical, financial and operational functions of Horizons Mental Health Center.
- Some of the programs within the CSS department for which the Director is responsible are Supported Employment, Peer Support and others related to serving the target population.
- The Director is responsible for being aware of the current training requirements by the State of all staff within the Department.
- The Director is aware of standards required by payers as to documentation, training, etc.
- The Director is aware of all professional training needs off the Department and staff and encourages participation in appropriate conferences, workshops, and seminars.
- Directs in-service training of new CSS staff. This responsibility may be provided directly or may be delegated to another staff member.
- Works effectively with Human Resources (HR) in managing the number of FTEs in the CSS Department by service type, closely monitoring the number of FTEs need to serve consumers and requisition for staff as appropriate.
- Monitors clinical productivity and all necessary documentation of CSS staff via the Managers and Supervisors of the Department. The Director of CSS uses productivity of staff to determine unused service capacity which will assist in determining FTEs needed in order to serve consumers and meet the mission of HMHC.
- When staff need to be replaced or hired, the Director will work with HR to screen and select applicants for personal interviews. The Director will facilitate the discussion and decision-making process concerning whether or not the position will be offered to an applicant. The Director will work with HR and Administration concerning appropriate starting salary.
- The Director of the Department will also work with HR on all personnel issues related to discipline, FMLA, leave, work modifications, etc.
- The Director of CSS will annually plan, prepare and present the budget for the CSS Department. The Director will also be a member of the group developing and finalizing the annual budget for HMHC.
- Should the Department provide internships or practicum experiences to students, the oversight and supervision of the student will ultimately be that of the Director. This responsibility of day to day oversight of the student may be provided directly or may be shared with, or delegated to, other staff members.
- The Director will actively support in the development of a culture for the Department and HMHC that is consistent with the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System core values and becoming a High Reliability Organization.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- General working knowledge of Community Support Services in the State of Kansas.
- Knowledge of training standards of staff needed to provide services
- Knowledge of documentation standards of stakeholders
- Knowledge of CMHC licensing standards.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health field with at least 5 years of experience managing staff and the operations of a major program.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s Degree in a behavioral health field with at least 5 years of experience managing staff and the operations of a major program.
- Will consider an individual with a Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated leadership skills

- Valid driver’s license, insurance and a dependable vehicle
PREFERRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
- License with the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board of Kansas
