What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN - Emergency Department Manager - Full Time position at Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System?
The Emergency Department Manager will lead and manage the daily operations of this busy Emergency Room. This person will serve the staff by empowering nurses to excel in clinical excellence, patient advocacy, and quality improvement. Also, as an administrative leader, he/she will be overseeing administrative, financial and operational activities of the Emergency Room Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrates expertise in clinical judgment and decision-making
- Maintains sound clinical knowledge based on current standards of practice for area of accountability
- Advocate, support and role model safe and high-quality patient care as evidenced by exceptional patient satisfaction scores, quality indicators, and staff engagement
- Collaborates and coordinates with other department management personnel, for the functions and activities of nursing care performed in the Emergency Department in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards and administrative policies.
- Assumes accountability for identifying problems and issues, generating and supporting solutions, and anticipating effects of decision
- Work with the Emergency Department Director and staff to resolve complaints and grievances timely
- Finalize department staff schedules
- Participate in patient and staff rounding
- Participate in Nurse Practice Counsel
- Arrange and participate in staff interviews
- Assist in leading staff meetings
- Work with staff to develop and implement a unit level performance improvement committee that is led by front line staff
- Participate in development of policies, procedures, and practice standards
- Mentors, develops and trains new staff and students.
- Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Serves a population newborn through geriatric
- Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing
- 1 yr of supervisory experience in Nursing, EMS, or related Military service field
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
REQUIRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas, or RN Compact License recognized by Kansas
Healthcare Provider BLS (or able to attain within 30 days of hire/end of orientation)
