Number of Positions: 8 (all positions available)
Rate of Pay: $36.00 per hour (with $120 for those who qualify)
DESCRIPTION:
Hutco, Inc. is seeking Ultrasonic Testing Inspectors (Level II) to perform volumetric butt, corner, and tee weld inspections in a shipyard environment. Candidates must meet ASNT SNT-TC-1A (2016 Edition) Level II requirements and be certified for UT inspections in accordance with NAVSEA T9074-AS-GIB-010/271.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification: All inspectors must be certified to Level II requirements of ASNT SNT-TC-1A, 2016 Edition. Certification for performing volumetric UT inspections of butt, corner, and tee welds according to NAVSEA standards is required.
- Testing Expertise: Must have passed written general theory, procedure-specific, and practical exams for UT inspection, covering basic test principles, equipment, operating procedures, and acceptance criteria.
- Examinations: Must pass practical exams covering calibration, scanning, flaw detection, and evaluation.
- Visual Acuity Exam: Passed a Jaeger 1 test within the last year for near-vision acuity at a distance of at least 12 inches. Additional vision exams will be administered by Newport News.
- Experience: Evidence of performing inspections in the applicable UT methods within the past 9 months.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspection: Perform UT inspections on structural welds in a shop environment.
- Climbing and Crawling: Must be able to climb vertical ladders, crawl in tanks and confined spaces, and work at heights.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in physically demanding environments with varying temperatures and humidity levels.
