Part of our growth strategy is to bring our outsourced accounting and finance activities in house.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Controller based in Nashville, TN. The Controller will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the organization. Daily tasks include overseeing accounting practices, preparing financial reports, budgeting, financial planning, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Controller will also be involved in financial analysis, forecasting, and advising on financial strategies to support the organization's goals.

• Assist in defining the reporting structure for the new system through collaboration with the senior management team and other stakeholders
• Assist with the implementation of a new accounting system
• Assess policies and procedures performed by current finance consultants and determine necessary changes or improvements
• Assist in the hiring and training of accounting staff 
• Manage all financial activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of accounting and reporting
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedure and internal controls
• Support executive directors and other community personnel through financial reporting and analysis, including assistance with variance analysis
• Ensure full compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and reporting obligations
•  Oversee accounts payable, receivable and cash management functions
•  Manage 3-4 clerical and professional accounting staff
• Coordinate with external auditors for year end audits to comply with regulatory and lending requirements

Qualifications

• Strong skills in Financial Management, Accounting, and Financial Reporting
• Experience in Budgeting, Financial Planning, and Analysis
• Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance and Taxation
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration
• 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role
• Experience with accounting software implementation, Sage Intacct a plus
