What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead School Counselor position at Hutto High School?
Primary Purpose:
Work with school faculty and staff, students, parents, and community to plan, implement and evaluate a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program at school assigned. Counsel students to fully develop each student’s academic, career, personal, and social abilities and address the needs of special populations’ students. Provide leadership to the campus’ school counselors in supporting the activities and responsibilities of the campus counselors. Work collaboratively with the high school campus lead counselors and the Director of Student Services to ensure consistent, equitable practices district-wide.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in counseling and/or related field
Valid Texas counseling certification
Valid License in Mental Health preferred (LPC, LCSW, LMFT)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to work with parents, students, and teachers
Ability to lead and offer evaluative feedback for evaluate other counselors
Knowledge of Master Scheduling
Knowledge of CTE Pathways
Knowledge of CCMR Indicators and Accountability
Knowledge of graduation plans and requirements
Experience:
Minimum of two years of teaching experience
Minimum of five years’ prior counseling experience
High School counseling experience preferred
Salary : $72,845 - $102,687
