What you will be doing…
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Hotel Controller to lead our financial operations, ensuring fiscal responsibility while driving profitability and growth in alignment with our brand's vision.
Position Overview
The Hotel Controller will oversee all financial operations, including, but not limited to, asset protection, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. This leader will collaborate with department heads to optimize revenue, control costs, and maintain financial integrity while supporting the guest-centric and artist-focused ethos of Hutton Hotel. Also responsible for department management in this hands-on role with supervision of two hourly positions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy:
- Develop and execute financial strategies to maximize profitability and operational efficiency.
- Oversee the hotel’s financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
- Execute strategic planning including CAPEX and other long-range projects.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the General Manager and corporate leadership.
- Analyze key financial metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Liaison to corporate office on hotel financial matters
Accounting & Compliance:
- Ensure accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and internal controls.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes.
- Coordinate with auditors for financial audits and tax filings.
- Ensure property permits, licenses and vendor contracts are current
- Prepare financial reports, prepare utilities and telephone accruals, monitor records of inventory and ensure compliance with all established billing and credit standards.
Revenue Optimization & Cost Control:
- Partner with Revenue Management to optimize pricing strategies and profitability.
- Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising guest experience.
- Work closely with department leaders to align financial goals with operational excellence.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Deliver recognition and rewards, schedule, coach and counsel where needed, provide development opportunities.
- Recruit, interview and train team members
- Provide training and support to department heads on best financial practices.
- Ensure seamless collaboration between finance, operations, and corporate stakeholders.
Candidate Profile Education and Experience:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Accounting. Experience in hotel accounting environment, preferably in a unionized hotel preferred. Successful candidate will also have four year college degree in Accounting with emphasis in Finance, Accounting or Business Management.
