Job Description HIAM Spin / Creel “C” Operator

Function

Safe operation of HIAM spin / creel positions per SOC. Performs all tasks required to ensure product is maintained within SOC limits continuously during the entire shift. Responsible for running spin machines, creeling and de-creeling cans correctly, following all safety procedures, changing packs and assisting other operators as needed.

Minimum Criteria

· Be able to operate can-lifter and fork-lift. (Transport empty cans to spin and full cans to stretch area).

· Be able to read and write and perform all duties by SOP's.

· Be able to perform mathematical equations.

· Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods of time.

· Be able to operate hoist used to transport batteries.

· Have ability to work alone or in a team setting.

· Have basic computer skills for data entry.

Responsibilities

· Know and follow the laws, policies, and standards that apply to your job.

· Attend and actively participate in all required training.

· Make the right choices every day. Ask for help if the right choices are not clear.

· Perform regular quality checks along with observing and interfering with the spin machine to ensure fiber is running correctly.

· Oversee the running of the spin machines.

· Creel and de-creel cans in the stretch line area

· Follow all safety policies, procedures, and instructions. Also, ensure that all others in the area are following these policies, procedures, and instructions.

· Follow approved quality procedures at all times to ensure a proper level of product is produced for customers.

· Maintain a clean and orderly work area, and complete assigned housekeeping duties according to work instructions as instructed by Supervision.

Specific Duties

· Ensure the Spin Machines and Stretch Lines are running according to Standard Operating Conditions (SOC).

· Operate can-lifter (transport empty cans to spin and full cans to stretch)

· Be able to read / write and perform all duties according to SOP's.

· Data Entry

· Operate forklift and can lifter in a safe and efficient manner.

· Move from on-work assignments to other problems to improve machine efficiency, improve the quality level, or reduce the waste.

· Doff cans and fill out production sheet

· Follow detailed instructions and complete necessary forms

· Assist in spin / stretch as needed.

· Observe and ensure that all others in the area are observing all safe practices, work rules, and company policies for the protection and benefit of all employees

· Thread spin machine, Troubleshoot and check for quality problems.

· Look for opportunities to improve machine efficiency, improve quality, and reduce waste

· Change out pack if needed, wipe pack on required frequency.

· Maintain clean equipment including but not limited to: floors, finish systems, waste, remove wraps as needed.

· Fill out production records and reports.

· Operation of Can Traverser in conjunction with can-lifter to creel and de-creel fiber.

· Maintain and change can-lifter batteries.

· Follow detailed instructions and complete necessary forms.

· Perform routine housekeeping duties.

Skills Required

· 2-3 years of production / manufacturing experience required

· Must be able to work 12 hour shifts in hot/cold environment

· Mechanical / Electrical experience is a plus

· Must be able to work in a team environment as well as individually

· Strong attention to detail

· Must be able to work mandatory overtime as needed

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
