HWI has a fantastic opportunity to join our company as a Trade Compliance Manager.
Summary
As a member of the HWI leadership team, the Trade Compliance Manager role will lead and build the global trade compliance team, and strategy. This role will drive the ongoing strategic development, leadership, and execution of HWI's trade compliance programs and processes. The Trade Compliance Manager will also be responsible for shaping and building the Company global trade compliance team and its capabilities. They will work to set a global strategy to minimize duties. The candidate will advise all levels of the organization, both domestic and international, to drive value for the business units by navigating the global trade and export compliance environment. In addition, the Trade Compliance Manager will manage all responses to inquiries and challenges from various customs authorities.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and implement appropriate global trade policies and processes to facilitate all Customs compliance requirements for manufactured goods and purchased goods crossing borders, particularly with respect to origin, classification, and value declarations.
- Manage the research and assignment of harmonized tariff schedule (HTS) numbers for both U.S., Canada and Mexico as well as export control classification (ECCN) for new and existing product updates and maintain a product database with classification justifications.
- Provide expertise, training, and support to all levels of the organization, both domestically and internationally, to enable business units to efficiently and effectively navigate the trade, export and import compliance environment in order to maintain an uninterrupted supply of cross-border shipments.
- Research, develop and implement automation projects and enhancements. Enhance skill set of relevant cross functional team members to provide support for day-to-day functions of trade compliance.
- In conjunction with our IT department create and maintain reporting to be used for performance metrics as well as data management for import and export processes. This includes a record retention policy to ensure all required documentation is digitally secured and properly classified.
- Regular reviews of item costs and transfer pricing to verify that declared valuation of goods is accurate and up to date.
- Conduct regular reviews of global trade regulatory changes, rulings, and case-law to assess risk and impact on Company operations.
- Schedule regular internal audits of current compliance practices, and policy adoption, to identify efficiency opportunities, mitigate risk, improve operations, and review the effectiveness of our operational controls.
