Job Summary:
To prepare and serve meals, necessary kitchen housekeeping tasks as designated by Dietary Manager, and supervision of all kitchen activities in the hours when Dietary Manager is off duty. Cook reports to Dietary Manager.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen during work shift.
2. Responsible for all activities in dietary department when Dietary Manager off duty.
3. Responsible for preparing and serving meals.
4. Responsible for any housekeeping assignments made by the Dietary Manager.
5. Responsible for receiving and storing any food supplies delivered during shift, in the absence of Dietary Manager.
6. Responsible for handling and preparation of foods in accordance with high quality food preparation, sanitation, and safety standards, using standardized recipes for all prepared items.
7. Responsible for meeting demands of meal schedule.
8. Responsible for maintaining equipment and work areas in sanitary and safe condition.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
1. One (1) year of successful experience in a quantity cooking situation, preferably a nursing home, hospital, or school lunchroom.
2. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
3. Must maintain a current food handler’s license.
4. Must be able to lift/push/pull over forty (40) pounds.
5. Must be able to stand/walk most of shift.
6. Must be alert and able to concentrate to prevent routine mishaps from exposure to hazards in dietary department.
7. Must be able to cooperate to coordinate activities with Dietary Manager and those of other kitchen workers.
Salary : $20 - $22
