Job Overview Responsible for administering medications to facility residents and charting pertinent information in resident’s charts. Assists with Treatments as needed, reports to the Director of Nursing.
Standard Requirements

• Support, coordinate with, and implement specific procedures and programs for: Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety disaster plans, risk management and security, report and/or correcting unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
• Confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee, and operations data.
• Support and participate in common teamwork Cooperate and work together with all co-workers; plan and completes job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.
• Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
• Follow up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns.
• Promotes customer service with residents, family members and guests.
• Adheres to requirements for in-service training; attendance, uniform, department, and dress code policies, including personal hygiene, and completes other work duties as assigned.
Essential Duties
• Administering medications in a professional, accurate and timely manner.
• Count narcotics at each change of shift.
• Apply treatments to residents using proper technique.
• Complete resident assessments as needed.
• Monitor and assist NACs as needed in resident care.
• Chart all pertinent information in residents’ charts.
• Complete incident reporting as necessary.
• Alert charge nurse of medication order needs.
• And other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands of the Job:
-Frequent tasks involve walking throughout the shift.
-Occasional sitting during duties.
-Occasional squatting and/or bending, necessary mostly during medication pass or residents’ assessment.
Lifting up to 10 lbs. frequently, 11 to 25 lbs. occasionally, 26 to 50 lbs. seldom and lifting greater than 50 lbs. is not required.
-Repetitive movements require following proper body mechanics. Notify supervisor of any concerns. Fine repetitive motor skills will be used frequently; gross repetitive motor skills will be used occasionally.
-Occasionally push/pull up to 25 pounds of force.
-Occasional twisting, seldom climb or use stairs; never crawl.
-Frequently reach from shoulder height to knees; seldom reach above shoulders or below knees.
Conditions of Environment
Controlled temperature, primarily indoor, well lit, maintained flooring, smoke free and occasional odors that dissipate. The noise level is maintained quiet to moderate. Areas of Moisture exposure during bathing process.
Qualifications
Basic Qualification Education/Training:
A current degree in nursing from an accredited college or university is required.
Current CPR card is required. Skills:
Knowledge of basic ADL’s and regulatory requirements.
Gerontological nursing is preferred.
Computer skills required to complete assessments and documentation.
Good communication skills with residents, families, and staff.
Basic knowledge of frequently used medications in long term care.
Must be able to push/pull med cart (approx. 50lbs) during shift.
One year of experience in long term care setting is preferred.
