The Role
In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional subject matter experts, internal team members, end users, and external agencies to develop learner-centered content based on best adult learning practices and inclusive practices. You will also support the measurement of training effectiveness through a variety of methods, including surveys, listening sessions, and knowledge assessments. The ideal candidate is an innovative, collaborative, analytical, problem-solving designer who is knowledgeable in design strategies for performance-based outcomes with experience working across multiple instructional delivery modalities to create high-quality learning experiences. You’ll be part of a team that is passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, is committed to nurturing curiosity and new skills, and building connections across the organization with stakeholders, colleagues, and guests. The following core responsibilities and tasks will require independent decision-making, collaboration with decision-makers, as well as application of established policies and procedures.
Experience Required:
3 years of experience in an instructional design, learning experience design, and/or learning program development role, or a combination of these roles Experience in producing interactive learning experiences based on experiential learning, adult learning principles, and using blended learning and innovative learning technologies Remains current with eLearning and classroom training trends and recommend other training media, methods, and approaches to ensure learning environments are relevant and engaging to learners Has broad knowledge of instructional technologies and mobile content delivery, is thoroughly proficient in the advanced use of eLearning authoring tools (e.g. Articulate 360, Evolve) and other asynchronous development applications Proven ability to effectively communicate with varied stakeholder roles and levels Incorporates adult learning theories and instructional design methodologies (e.g. ADDIE, SAM, Design Thinking, Bloom's Taxonomy, etc.) into effective learning outcomes Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Suite tools Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, Articulate 360, Evolve, Storyline 360, Captivate, Camtasia Studio, or equivalent eLearning content creation software Candidates should be prepared to submit a sample of a digital learning experience project they have developed Self-motivated to achieve departmental and strategic learning goals Significant customer focus and orientation Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver quality, client-focused results on time and within budget Adept at identifying and framing problems, setting priorities, and making critical assessments Design Thinking Skills: collaboration skills, a global mindset skills that includes accommodating cultural differences; respect for different perspectives; and expansion of self-awareness Knowledge of the principles of learning including adult learning, learning styles theory, participatory methods, instructional design, whole systems design, and related topics Occasional travel may be required (

- Actively support efforts to enhance the customer experience through the development and delivery of digital instructional content and programs, with a focus on developing systems proficiency
- Rapidly and iteratively create engaging self-paced course content, such as eLearning courses, simulation exercises, on-the-job training, instructor-led courses (virtual and in-person), instructional guides, performance support tools, games, and learning assessments
- Consult/work with subject matter experts, trainers, and end users to develop materials that are effective and proven to drive performance
- Assimilate and organize content into meaningful training solutions delivered via various media and optimized for mobile app
- Ensure that materials are consistent with Hyatt learning standards and core values. Participate in the refinement of team standards and processes
- Work with Sr. Manager, Learning Programs to define the scope of learning deliverables: clarify objectives, timelines, and projected outcomes
- Conduct in-depth job-task analysis and/or needs assessment as directed to determine learning solutions and other performance enhancement solutions (i.e., microlearning, job aids, video, social)
- Develop learning program goals, program objectives and module objectives, and curriculum plans to support the development of employee performance over time
- Apply knowledge of adult learning theory to identify appropriate training media and methodologies based on audience learning styles, course content, audience location, points within the learning process, etc.
- Design evaluation strategies and tools to measure program effectiveness, and to determine whether desired learning and performance outcomes are achieved
Experience Required:
Experience Preferred:
- BS/BA degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, Learning Design and Technology, User Experience Design, Adult Learning, Organizational Development or a related field
- Instructional Design certification (i.e., ATD Master Instructional Designer, Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD)) preferred but not required
- Other relevant professional certifications may include additional Instructional Design or talent management specializations (i.e., ATD, DDI, SHRM, eLearning Developer)
- Hospitality experience a plus but not required
- Experience in vendor collaboration a plus but not required
- Experience with developing competency-based badging/micro-credentialing
- Experience designing learning products optimized for mobile
- Experience with website development including knowledge of HTML a plus
- Experience with SABA Cloud LMS a plus
- Practical knowledge of information architecture, content strategy, and user interface design a plus
