The Utility Engineer - Central Plant Operator is responsible for the efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of central plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This includes low-pressure boilers, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and HVAC systems. The role also involves scheduling and overseeing air handling units (AHUs) for meeting spaces, performing routine inspections and maintenance of life safety systems, and logging building utility consumption.
Key Responsibilities :
- Monitor, operate, and maintain central plant equipment, including low-pressure boilers, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, and associated pumps.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure efficient operation.
- Schedule and adjust start / stop times for air handling units (AHUs) serving meeting spaces.
- Conduct basic inspections and maintenance of life safety systems to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Log and monitor building utility consumption, identifying trends and potential efficiency improvements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical issues as needed.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to support facility operations.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment performance, maintenance activities, and system adjustments.
