JOB DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the Engineer at Janko Hospitality is to provide world class service to all guests. The Engineer will repair and maintain the hotel’s physical assets to keep the hotel in compliance with the state / local government requirements, the hotel’s policies / procedures and the brand’s standards for quality, cleanliness, guest satisfaction, safety and security.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Flexible schedule including 1st and 2nd shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Strive for independence as a mechanic, proficient in problem analysis and efficient task planning
- Maintain equipment to minimize downtime, performing daily maintenance under Chief Engineer's guidance
- Handle upkeep for rooms and common areas : plumbing, HVAC, electrical repairs, etc.
- Perform minor repairs such as tile replacement, painting, and carpentry
- Maintain cleanliness of hotel exterior, parking lot, and landscaping, including snow removal
- Report major repair needs to Chief Engineer promptly
- Utilize basic hand and power tools proficiently, ensuring proper storage
- Coordinate with Chief Engineer for materials, tools, and supplies
SAFETY AND SECURITY
Return hotel keys at end of shiftAnnounce presence before entering guest roomsMaintains security for guests and property by keeping room doors locked at all timesReport any suspicious activity of guests, visitors or staffProperly label any lost / found articles and turn in to the appropriate ManagerPerform duties in accordance with Safety and Security PoliciesPerform duties in accordance with OSHA, HAZCOM and Blood Borne Pathogens regulationMonitor fire alarm / life safety systems as necessary, and respond to emergencies as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating statusCUSTOMER SERVICE AND GUEST SATISFACTION
Respond to staff and guest requests for immediate repairsMaintain a high standard of personal appearance and proper uniformGreets guests, visitors and staff in a courteous and friendly mannerSmile, acknowledge and greet guests in rooms and / or in passingPerforms other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by managementWhen asked, inspect or clean public areas to insure high level of presentationPHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED, with an emphasis in technical tradesPrevious experience in maintenance / groundsMust have working knowledge of general repair in plumbing, carpentry and finish, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, electrical systems and controls, general buildingPrevious hotel maintenance experience preferredFriendly demeanor and good customer service and communication skillsAble to work efficiently under time constraintsPossess good organization and prioritization skillsAble to work independently and with othersValid state drivers license required
