The Hyatt Place East End in Riverhead, NY is looking to hire a motivated general maintenance technician who has a passion for maintaining a top-notch facility. The Maintenance Tech will assist the Chief Engineer in all maintenance operations of the hotel. This position will be responsible for the repairs, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and overall operation of all property equipment, mechanical systems, POS and information systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and pump systems, energy maintenance, and all other areas related to the property operation.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

· Maintains a welcoming presence in all areas, especially when in view of guests. Immediately acknowledges guests and their requests or questions.

· Is neat and clean in appearance, wears proper uniform, name/ID badge, correct department footwear (non-skid), and a smile.

· Participate in the operation of Hyatt Place hotel maintenance program including plumbing, carpentry, electrical components and systems, small engines, HVAC systems, painting and interior repairs, landscaping and exterior work, and all other general repairs.

· Assist in the general maintenance for Atlantis Marine World banquet and catering and Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center, as needed.

· Review requests for repairs, maintenance, and alteration of property facilities; make recommendations on the technical feasibility of initiating repair projects; prioritize and complete work assignments; answer complaints and requests from departmental offices.

· Maintain operation of the property pool and other recreational facilities. Maintain proper pool records and reporting as required by law.

· Maintain appropriate maintenance certification as required by law and Hyatt Place brand.

· Knowledgeable in all activities related to the continuous operation of the pool, as not to interfere with guest satisfaction.

· Know the methods and procedures needed to maintain and effective property preventative maintenance program. Complete room and public space Preventative Maintenance checks (PM’s) in organized, effective, and efficient manner, optimizing all available tools that may be provided by Hyatt and the Company.

· Maintain the property maintenance and upkeep in correlation with guest satisfaction scores and achieving the score desired by ownership, Hyatt Hotels, and ARM.

· Work with Chief Engineer to review all property maintenance activities and improve the effectiveness of the department's operations and project timelines.

· Prepare and/or maintain work records and reports, complete all necessary checklists. PM records, etc.

· Uses and maintains chemicals and other hazardous materials in correct manner, according to Hyatt and OSHA standards.

· Maintains adequate supply of tools and supplies that are kept secure and used effectively.

· Achieve and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors, and the public.

· Express ideas effectively both orally and in writing.

· Exercise significant judgement in resolving problems that arise in normal building operations, sometimes without any guidance or supervision.

· Practices excellent communication skills, shares information to other shifts and to management through use of the daily logbook or other approved channels.

· Has thorough understanding of all emergency plans, safety, operating procedures/standards-especially regarding handling guests and maintaining service if an emergency or other issue arises. Follows correct procedure and reports all incidents or injuries to supervisor immediately.

· Offers input and ideas on the operation of the kitchen and concessions area and takes part in training initiatives and skill development to improve the department.

· Completes any other task as requested by a supervisor, including the training new associates

Position Specific Qualifications and Knowledge:

· High school diploma, or equivalent preferred.

· Minimum 1-year experience in building maintenance program of similar size and scope.

· Must be able to pass all Hyatt training and certifications necessary for the Maintenance and Engineering department, within the designated period.

Performance Measurement:

Performance is measured by exceeding goals set forth by Hyatt and the Company for condition and upkeep of the property. This includes guest feedback and guest service scores on room condition, items in working order, property upkeep and maintenance, systems efficiency, guest service, and adherence to all brand required standard. Maintenance associates are expected to pass all inspections and uphold all required laws, standards, and safety measures.

Physical, Schedule and Work Related Requirements:

· Be available “on-call”, in peak season, on an as-needed basis to ensure a consistent and continuous flow of the operation, avoiding down times and/or potential revenue loss.

· Ability to operate necessary tools and equipment, including the shuttle van if needed.

· Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, climb while performing job tasks. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. or greater on a frequent basis.

· Requires ability to work both inside and outside-sometimes in inclement weather, during all seasons.
