Job Overview
The Sales Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Sales, coordinating, training and supervising the Sales and / or Catering Managers and / or the Sales Administrator in all sales-related activities, including direct sales efforts, follow-up, and proper sales administration. He/she is also responsible for growing existing accounts and generating new business to ensure that rooms revenue and catering revenue meet or exceed budget in order to maximize revenue and profits and to improve the hotel's performance in the marketplace.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Educational / Work History Requirements (Must meet one of the below to qualify):
- 2-year college degree and at least 1 year of experience in a hotel sales related department.
- At least 2 years progressive experience in a hotel sales related department.
- Hyatt experience a plus.
- Previous supervisory experience required.
- Must be proficient in Windows Operating Systems.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel / Word / Outlook).
Physical requirements:
- Long hours sometimes required. Typically a 50 hour workweek.
- Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to stand during entire shift.

What You Will Be Doing:
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Hyatt brand standards as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel, but which will include a mandatory daily meeting.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include compliance with Hyatt brand standards.

- Comply at all times with Hyatt brand standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Attend monthly all-employee meetings and any other functions required by management.
- Attend weekly staff meeting and provide training on a rotational basis, using steps to effective training according to Hyatt brand standards.
- Supervise, administer and ensure timely completion of tasked sales activities in the Sales Department.
- Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including Food and Beverage, Front Office and Reservations.
- Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the sales team.
- Develop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies.
- Comply with certification requirements as applicable for this position to include but not limited to: Food Handlers and Alcohol Awareness.
- Comply with attainment of individual / departmental goals.
- Be responsible for developing future Sales Coordinators, including sign-off on all competencies and assist in his/her placement.
- Coordinate group and transient bookings to maximize profits.
- Operate within established sales expense budget.
- Participate in any required M.O.D. weekend coverage as scheduled.
- Supervise Sales Coordinator to ensure that the Catering, Food & Beverage, and Meeting Room rental BEO's are followed & guests expectations are exceeded.
- Initiate and follow up on leads.
- Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
- Implement a continuous sales training program for all sales staff in accordance with Hyatt brand standards.
- Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers, employees and other departments.
- Prepare required reports in a timely manner.
- Attend weekly sales meetings.
- Attend daily all-hands meeting with Sales staff and General Manager.
- Comply at all times with Hyatt brand standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Meet and greet onsite contacts.
- Ensure that employees are, at all times, attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and other employees.
