POSITION SUMMARY
This role assists in overseeing the overall operations of the bar within the hotel. The Lead Bartender is responsible for all aspects of quality and consistency of the beverage program, including menus and recipes, and must possess an advanced knowledge of cocktails (both classic and modern), spirits, and wine. This job requires creativity, organization, problem-solving and communication skills. Lead Bartender supervises multiple aspects of supplying, running and operating the bar before, during, and after service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure consistency in recipes and presentation.
- Mentor and train associates in their respective duties as bartenders / mixologists, cocktail servers, and barbacks.
- Ensures bar staff is completing all side work on their shift.
- Must properly handle food and money.
- Maintains par levels, inventory control.
- Ensures every guest experience is a positive one.
- Works alongside of team during busiest times and as needed.
- Prepares the bar area for beginning of shift, during and after; trains all team members to do this for harmonious environment.
- Assists in inventory, ordering and ensures FIFO procedures are being followed.
- Ensures proper supplies, materials, products are available for every shift.
- Act as the cashier for the servers when necessary.
- Ensures minors and intoxicated persons are not being served.
- Controls costs of inventory, labor and supplies.
- Provide opening and closing inventory of spirits.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the bar area through disposing of all waste, clearing and cleaning all glassware, wiping down bar and preparation areas.
- Wears proper uniform at all times and is warm, welcoming, and genuine.
- Attend staff meetings as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervise bar staff. Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, and training employees with assistance from human resources; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
High School education or GED required to accomplish the essential functions of this job; must be computer proficient and familiar with office equipment. Our ideal candidate will have prior experience in a high-end hotel and / or One-year high volume bar experience required. Customer service experience preferred.
