What are the responsibilities and job description for the Guestroom Maintenance Engineer 1st Shift position at Hyatt Regency Denver Convention Center?
A Guestroom Maintenance Engineer at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center will be trained to perform hotel guestroom condition evaluations, preventative general maintenance and to make minor repairs. Using a comprehensive checklist the engineer will perform the following tasks :
- Visually inspect the guestroom for necessary touchups to finishes including paint, wallpaper, wood & stone surfaces and furniture, reporting noted deficiencies to an engineering supervisor to be repaired by others.
- Test operation of all lights & lamps, telephone, TV, safe, doors, door lock, window, smoke detector, sink, toilet, shower, refrigerator, HVAC unit.
- Per training, tools, equipment and supplies provided perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs such as : o Changing batteries in door lock, telephone and smoke detector o Changing lamps o Changing HVAC filter o Checking thermostat and actuator operation o Clearing tub and sink drains o Removing shower head and sink aerator, descaling, flushing and replacing.
- Reporting more complex issues to an engineering supervisor for assistance, additional training or repair by others. From time to time guestroom maintenance engineers are called upon to perform special projects based on the needs of the hotel at that time. Training for such projects will be provided. Because the hotel is very busy and has 1,100 guestrooms, the successful engineer will be comfortable working at a steady pace, moving from one assigned room to the next once completed. And because the work being performed will typically be in vacant guestrooms the individual must be comfortable with working alone much of the time. English as second language welcome. This position involves a considerable amount of walking and standing along with the ability to lift, push and carry a moderate amount of weight. While previous maintenance experience is preferred it is not required so long as the applicant is focused, detail oriented, comfortable working with their hands, takes direction well and is willing and able to learn the necessary skills to perform the job. This position is posted for a daytime shift with reasonable flexibility for shift start and end times on a set schedule. The schedule is subject to change depending on business needs.
