The Banquet Event Setup Lead is responsible for assisting the Banquet Event Supervisor on making sure the function space is visually appealing and presenting the offering for the event. This may include linen, dance floor, platforms/stages, and table setting, food station design, and beverage service. Other duties include oversight of the general banquet room refreshes, and maintaining a sanitary environment.
Main duties:
Responsible for leading the banquet event setup house person employees and provide day to day instructions and assignments. Monitor performance and recommend corrective action
Responsible for assisting the Banquet Event Setup Supervisor for training, evaluating, counseling, and disciplining of banquet event setup house person
Responsible for inspecting and maintaining set-ups for cleanliness and accuracy to ensure that all of the guest needs are met and exceeded.
Responsible for the set-up and/or break down tables, chairs, and platforms/stages, skirting, table tops and other equipment as specified by group requirements.
Responsible for room refreshes during breaks (replenish supplies, water pitchers, glasses, etc.)
Responsible for reporting any issues or concerns, and monitoring the upkeep of the meeting spaces, storage area, back of house and equipment. This will include developing cleaning and repair process for tables, chairs, linens, platforms/stages, etc. Report all damages or issues to the Director of Event Services, Event Services Senior Manager, Event Services Manager and Event Setup Supervisor
Responsible for ensuring clean linen and skirting are stock in storage areas
- Responsible for delivering all boxes and materials for functions when requested by a client of a group or by management
- Responsible for leading 25 to 30 Banquet Event Setup house people
- Assist the Banquet Event Supervisor for monthly inventory of tables, chairs, linen dance floors etc
Responsible for following all rules and regulations set forth by the Event Services Department as well as the Hyatt Employee handbook

Qualifications
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule, that may require to work nights, weekends, overnight and/or holidays
- Must have basic computer skills to read and write emails
Must be able to read and understand the details on a room diagram
Ability to lift, and carry objects. Physical activities include move, lift, carry, push, pull, able to operate and control heavy equipment
- Must be able to assist with coaching, mentoring and recognizing banquet event setup employees
Must be able to communicate with multiple meeting planners simultaneously
- Must have a positive attitude and willing to go the extra mile to exceed the expectations of both internal and external guests
- Prior hospitality experience is preferred in a mid to large scale operation
Other
Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests, coworkers, and supervisors
Conduct pre-shift and post-shift with the banquet event setup team
Reading and writing abilities are utilized often with event orders and instructions
Basic math is used frequently to ensure the proper set up of tables, chairs, dance floor, platforms/stages, etc
Education
