Position Objectives
The Safety and Security Manager manages the daily functions of the Security department to maintain the protection of property assets, associates, guests, and guest property. The Safety and Security Manager is responsible for developing, documenting, and training on a comprehensive safety program for the property. This individual is viewed as an authority in physical security and safety matters.
Description of Duty:
Assists the Director of Engineering in administering fire prevention programs and emergency preparedness.
Conducts hazard and risk assessments at the property.
Manages and guides the efforts of the properties safety committee. Develops initiatives and goals for the committee.
Inspects all unusual activities in and around the property that would impair the well being of guests and associates.
Develops daily, weekly, and monthly checklists for equipment to ensure all equipment is in safe working condition, this could include cctv equipment, door alarms, locks, etc.
Set the standards of professionalism for the department through training, leading, and enforcing departmental and hotel standards
Handles complaints, settles disputes, and resolves grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiates with others.
Create and maintain a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance, feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction
Oversee the assigned operational functions within the department, ensuring it is consistent with the strategic direction and vision for the hotel
Respond to radio calls assertively, professionally and timely
Evaluate, manage and advise on internal and external risks to equipment, property, guests, associates, etc.
Receive, respond and track all security activity in the hotel from guests and other departments
Know the location and proper use of all emergency equipment
Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting building, equipment, and access points
Communicate with guests in a professional manner that promotes guest safety and satisfaction
Interact with co-workers to provide guest services in a coordinated manner
Train/Educate hotel employees on current safety issues to ensure compliance with all security and safety regulations
Understand the policies, procedures and protocols for guest eviction, carry out responsibilities accordingly
Conduct investigations of accidents, injuries, and suspicious activities
Complete daily report, logs and other written documents
Perform all duties as deemed necessary for the success of the department
