Position Overview:

At The Wildbirch Hotel, our ASSISTANT ACCOUNTING MANAGER supports the entire finance and operation team by overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, managing financial records, preparing reports, and assisting with financial analysis, while also ensuring compliance and accuracy.

A valid work authorization for the USA is required - Please note that we do not provide any visa sponsoring for the listed role.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Financial Record Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, invoices, and other financial documents.
  • Report Preparation: Assist in preparing financial statements, reports, and budgets, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Financial Analysis: Support financial analysis by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting financial data to identify trends and potential issues.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls.
  • Reconciliation: Perform bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Special Projects: Assist with special projects and ad hoc requests as needed.
  • Communication: Communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters.
  • Tax Preparation: Assist with tax preparation and filing.

Requirements:

  • Previous accounting and finance experience is required. (Hospitality finance experience is an advantage)
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to read and respond in English (additional languages are a plus).
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enthusiastic, service-oriented, and with a passion for hospitality and Alaska’s vibrant culture.
  • Proficiency in accounting softwares, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with web-based tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
