We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sustaining Engineering Manager to lead our sustaining engineering team and drive initiatives aimed at improving product reliability, quality, and longevity.
Position Overview: As a Sustaining Engineering Manager at UCC, you will be responsible for managing and leading engineering focused on sustaining and enhancing our existing products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to address product issues, implement improvements, and ensure the long-term success of our product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of sustaining engineers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, manufacturing, and quality, to address product issues and implement solutions.
- Monitor and analyze product performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Develop and execute strategies to enhance product reliability, quality, and longevity.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) for product issues.
- Manage engineering change requests (ECRs) and coordinate with stakeholders to implement changes efficiently.
- Develop and maintain a product lifecycle management (PLM) strategy to support ongoing product improvements and updates.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to improve production processes and ensure product quality.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to sustaining engineering processes.
- Maintain and update product documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in sustaining engineering.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in engineering management, particularly in a sustaining engineering role.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to lead and develop a team.
- Solid understanding of product development and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies and problem-solving techniques.
- Fabrication and welding experience a plus.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools and processes.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and collaborative environment.
- Detail-oriented and results-driven with a commitment to quality.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to small engines, vacuum systems, and pressure systems is beneficial.
