Job Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary AVP of Clinical Laboratories to lead and direct laboratory services, including Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Laboratory, Outreach, Quality Management, Standardization, and Compliance. This executive role oversees Core Lab operations, manages internal and external business relationships, and drives continuous improvement within an integrated health system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage system-wide laboratory operations, including quality programs, process standardization, and service optimization.
- Oversee strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for laboratory and courier services.
- Drive contract performance evaluation, working closely with supply chain teams to manage vendors and supplies.
- Direct anatomic pathology services and maintain effective physician agreements.
- Supervise and develop a team of directors, managers, and supervisors, fostering a strong leadership pipeline.
- Monitor patient and procedure volume trends, aligning staffing and resources with system goals.
- Ensure strong relationships with physicians, providers, and staff, addressing service needs and satisfaction.
- Support ongoing education, development, and compliance training for staff.
- Maintain compliance with CAP, CLIA, TJC, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.
- Serve as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders and establish professional networks.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
- Minimum of 7 years of administrative leadership in a multi-site laboratory environment.
- Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
- Proven ability to lead large laboratory teams across a healthcare system.
- Demonstrated collaboration with pathologists and medical staff.
- Strong understanding of laboratory trends, reimbursement policy, and emerging technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business or Healthcare Administration.
- 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a complex lab system.
- Registration with ASCP as:
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
- Medical Technologist (MT)
- Cytotechnologist (CT)
- Histotechnologist (HTL)
- Deep understanding of pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical lab operations.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base Salary: $90,000 – $160,000 (DOE)
