POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor, under the guidance of the site Operations Manager, will oversee one or more areas of production operations. The role is responsible for organizing workflow and monitoring, supporting and coaching employees to ensure that manufacturing remains a smooth and efficient process. This front-line leader prioritizes production schedules based on supply plan deadlines, equipment efficiency, and materials supply to achieve work schedules and satisfy customer requirements. The Production Supervisor must be an effective communicator, capable of teaching and generating results while enhancing the work environment and supporting the company philosophy.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive a culture of high performance and accountability, specifically with respect to employee, product, and environmental safety. Models safety standards and holds direct report and team accountable to world class safety programs and policies.
- Ensure that all products are produced as safely and efficiently as possible without defects and in accordance with local, regional, and national regulatory requirements.
- Direct the work of the Production staff, including coaching, supervision, scheduling, timecard approvals, development, and evaluation of the team.
- Manage work priorities and allocating resources to meet the production schedule priorities. Monitor hourly and daily line performance; using data driven approach, facilitates daily stand-up meeting.
- Coordinates with the quality staff to maintain quality control within production.
- Enthusiastically leads and participates in the development and ongoing execution of the Hydrofarm Manufacturing Operating System.
- Completes or supervises completion of all production batch sheets, work orders and production entry in a timely and accurate manner. Must be able to comply and ensure compliance with all specified quality and regulatory control methods and documentation.
- Assist the warehouse team in organizing the storage of raw materials when returning partially used materials.
- Coordinates with production scheduling and procurement to ensure efficient utilization of manufacturing resources.
- Manages production KPIs with a dedication to meet or exceed all targets
- Assists in operating mixing and packaging equipment, forklifts, hoists, and other material handling equipment, when necessary.
- Ensure the effectual adopting of new programs and policies and providing training to meet improved requirements.
- Ensure that all machines and equipment are cleaned, and basic equipment care is completed per agreed upon standards.
- Maintain 5S within the assigned areas of production.
Education and Experience
- Team player that understands the mission of the department and relationship to the organizational goals and objectives; must be flexible in undertaking a variety of duties that will contribute to the success of the site
- Ability to create a sense of urgency and quickly adapt to changes in priorities with decision making skills
- Ability to motivate others to meet quality and production requirements
- Knowledge of financial and budgetary controls
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in fast paced production environment.
- Associate or a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is desired
- Minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory or management position preferred
- Lean manufacturing certification desired
- Must be able to lift up to 60lbs.
- Ability to work with computer applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and AX.
