Responsibilities/Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
UXO Technician level 1 position with the potential for extensive travel and long-term on-site work as required. UXO Technician Level 1 personnel will be responsible for performing the following general types of duties: UXO surface sweeps, UXO subsurface clearances, UXO avoidance, and supporting geophysical/UXO surveys. Proficient with current metal detectors. Prepare firing systems, both electric/non-electric, for demilitarization operations. Transport demolition materials and/or UXO and DMM determined to be safe over public traffic routes. Assist in the inspection of MPPEH for the presence of explosive hazards. Construct UXO-related protective works.
To perform the duties of this position a person will need to be in good physical health and be able to lift 50 pounds in order to perform field tasks. Field tasks may take place in environments which include rugged terrain and weather extremes.
Required Skills
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, regulators, project team members, and company management. This position requires 0 - 3 years of commercial UXO experience.
Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for a UXO Technician 1 as outlined in Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board (DDEB) Technical Paper 18 (TP 18) Minimum Qualifications for Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Technicians and Personnel, which includes the following:
- Graduate of a formal course of instruction appropriate to this skill level.
- Must be able to perform all functions enumerated for UXO Sweep Personnel and UXO Technician.
WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT
- Knowledge of Geonics EM61-MK2, Trimble GPS/PDA and CDL with hazmat endorsements is a plus.
- Computer knowledge with MS Windows
- MS Excel
- MS Project and PowerPoint a plus
- BA of BS degree
