Position Overview
We are seeking a Data Analyst with CPG experience to take ownership of our sales and demand forecasting processes, ensuring accurate and data-driven inventory and production planning. The ideal candidate will be adept at analyzing historical data, identifying trends and seasonal patterns, and utilizing statistical models to forecast demand across multiple sales channels and product SKUs.
Key Responsibilities
Demand Forecasting & Analysis
● Develop and maintain short-term and long-term demand forecasts for multiple product lines and seasonal launches.
● Continuously refine forecasting models based on evolving consumer demand, promotional calendars, new product launches, and market insights.
Statistical Modeling & Tools
● Utilize advanced statistical techniques (e.g., time series modeling, regression analysis, exponential smoothing) and software (e.g., Excel, R, Python, forecasting software) to generate accurate forecasts.
● Evaluate forecast performance regularly, adjusting models and parameters to reduce error rates.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
● Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to incorporate promotions, new product launches, marketing campaigns, and retail partnership data into the forecasting process.
● Collaborate with Supply Chain and Inventory Management to ensure alignment of production and inventory levels with demand forecasts.
SKU Management & Seasonality
● Manage forecasting for a wide range of SKUs, each with unique lifecycles and seasonal fluctuations.
● Identify and model trends influenced by seasonality, holiday promotions, or external factors that impact consumer behavior.
Data Management & Reporting
● Gather, consolidate, and interpret data from multiple sources (e.g., POS systems, e-commerce platforms, distributor reports).
● Prepare regular forecast accuracy reports, variance analyses, and presentations for executive leadership, highlighting key drivers and recommended actions.
Continuous Improvement
● Develop and implement best practices for forecasting processes, documentation, and system enhancements.
● Stay current on industry trends, new analytical methods, and CPG-specific forecasting challenges to proactively refine forecasting accuracy.
Sale Channel & Customer Planning
● Manage forecasting for all major sales channels and customers
● Create ordering scenarios for wholesale customers
Qualifications
Education & Experience
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
● 3 years of demand forecasting or analytics experience in a consumer packaged goods (CPG) environment.
Technical & Statistical Skills
● Proficiency with forecasting software and advanced Excel (pivot tables, Power Query), plus familiarity with statistical tools (e.g., R, Python, SAS).
● Strong background in time series analysis, regression models, and other quantitative forecasting methods.
CPG & SKU Complexity
● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple SKUs with varying lifecycles, seasonality, and promotional overlays.
● Knowledge of inventory management principles and supply chain best practices.
Analytical Mindset
● Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a knack for extracting insights from complex data sets.
Communication & Collaboration
● Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to translate complex analytical findings into actionable recommendations.
● Experience working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Operations in a fast-paced CPG setting.
