Afterschool Attendant
Carl Park Community Center
General Summary:
Under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the Afterschool Attendant is responsible for ensuring a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for children in the afterschool program. This includes supervising participants, leading activities, and fostering positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by monitoring activities and maintaining a structured environment.
- Lead or assist with various activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, academic support, and enrichment activities.
- Enforce program rules consistently, promoting respect and cooperation.
- Prepare and distribute snacks in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff, providing updates and addressing concerns.
- Maintain attendance records, incident reports, and follow proper pickup and drop-off procedures.
- Assist in preparing facility for activities and ensure areas are cleaned and organized afterward.
- Lock and arm the facility at the end of each program day.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Contribute to special projects as assigned by the Recreation Coordinator.
- Attend training, staff meetings, and relevant workshops as required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Clear communication with participants and families.
- Punctual and reliable with strong multitasking abilities.
- Ability to create a positive environment for homework and activities.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Ability to engage in physical activity regularly.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift or move 30-50 lbs.
- CPR certification required.
