General Summary:

Under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the Afterschool Attendant is responsible for ensuring a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for children in the afterschool program. This includes supervising participants, leading activities, and fostering positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by monitoring activities and maintaining a structured environment.
2. Lead or assist with various activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, academic support, and enrichment activities.
3. Enforce program rules consistently, promoting respect and cooperation.
4. Prepare and distribute snacks in accordance with health and safety standards.
5. Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff, providing updates and addressing concerns.
6. Maintain attendance records, incident reports, and follow proper pickup and drop-off procedures.
7. Assist in preparing facility for activities and ensure areas are cleaned and organized afterward.
8. Lock and arm the facility at the end of each program day.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Provide excellent customer service.
2. Contribute to special projects as assigned by the Recreation Coordinator.
3. Attend training, staff meetings, and relevant workshops as required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

1. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
2. Clear communication with participants and families.
3. Punctual and reliable with strong multitasking abilities.
4. Ability to create a positive environment for homework and activities.
5. Must have reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements:

1. Must be at least 16 years of age.
2. Ability to engage in physical activity regularly.
3. Ability to stand for extended periods.
4. Occasionally lift or move 30-50 lbs.
5. CPR certification required.
