Park Ranger
General Summary :
Under the general supervision of the District Security Manager, the Park Ranger plays a key role in promoting safety and positive community relations through education and not discipline. They ensure that their presence in the Hyland Hills Parks & Recreation District facilities and parks foster safety while aligning with the District's values and objectives. As an ambassador for the District, the Park Ranger educates the public on the importance of preserving all Hyland Hills parks and public spaces.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Greet visitors and enforce park rules to ensure safety.
- Must exercise good judgement and decision making in sometimes complex, and elevated situations / incidents, with non-physical interaction, and while remaining calm and maintaining personal safety and the safety of others.
- Provide emergency response care and assist with .
- Develop and lead interpretive environmental education programs.
- Provide security at District facilities and events, including rentals, concerts, games, and other programming. To provide all security needs within the District when needed.
- Collaborate with security and police officers in daily operations.
- Educate the community on the protection and preservation of Hyland Hills facilities and parks.
- Provide visible customer service to ensure safety and foster positive relationships.
- Greet visitors, patrol areas, enforce facility and park rules, and maintain guest safety.
- Provide emergency response care and perform basic maintenance duties, such as trash cleanup and removal, graffiti removal, restroom cleaning, and sign installation.
- Manage natural resources, including wildlife management and trail maintenance.
- Work flexible schedules to ensure security coverage at other District facilities.
- Assist with emergency preparedness, facility inspections, camera monitoring, lighting checks, and documentation for facility and park checks.
- Write warnings, document interactions and issues, write detailed incident reports and gather data as needed.
- Perform other additional duties as assigned.
