General Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, this position performs professional duties in creating, planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, supervising, marketing, and evaluating youth gymnastics, boys and girls teams, dance, ninja and parkour programs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement instructional and team programs to include marketing, organizing, documenting, developing and scheduling.
- Assists in training, supervising, and evaluating part-time Instructors.
- Creates program descriptions for the District Activity Guide and social media posts.
- Works closely with Parks and the District maintenance team to ensure site program space for optimum and safe conditions for programs.
- Coordinates partnerships with various community agencies and Leagues in which the team gymnasts participate with.
- Oversees contacts and agreements with vendors, League teams and ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed.
- Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment; distributes supplies and equipment; orders supplies and equipment for programs.
- Creates team rosters, schedule leagues and meets; enforce rules and regulations of League competitions.
- Assists with preparing and administrating individual program budgets; monitoring expenditures and revenues to meet Department cost recovery requirements.
- Provide registration support, Rec-Trac program registration and reservation module, answer telephones, and maintain correspondence with other District staff members; respond to public inquiries about the facility and programs.
- Engages in the instruction of class participants ages walking to 18 years of age, some on weeknights, weekends and holidays.
- Engages in the coaching of team levels.
- Makes safety checks on site and eliminates hazards to ensure complete safety of the participants.
- Complies with all required certifications for safety and continuing education of the sport of gymnastics.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of a range of gymnastics skill for all levels and ages.
- Knowledge of developing and administering gymnastics, dance, ninja and parkour programs; working knowledge of the rules of a variety of gymnastics leagues and ability to oversee these programs.
- Ability to work in stressful situations; ability to stay calm and have excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to maintain records, prepare reports and monitor budget.
- Required to work evenings, night shifts, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective & professional working relationships with co-workers, the public, and any outside organizations.
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; ability to direct the work of others.
Working Environment/Physical Activities:
- Encompasses a wide range of duties with 50% of time spent in an office environment and 50% instructing.
- May have the ability to lift to 60 pounds and remain physically active for up to four hours at a time.
- Must have the enthusiasm and positive energy required to work with children of all ages and abilities.
- Busy, noisy, and will need excellent organization and time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education, Health Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or another related field.
- One year of gymnastics programming and staff management experience.
- State of Colorado driver license with a good driving record.
Necessary Special Qualifications:
- CPR/ AED and First Aid Certified
