Summary: The Accounting Intern supports accounting and financial functions required for timely and accurate reporting and effective analysis. Interacts cross-functionally with managers other employees to gather and disseminate information to ensure the effective performance of this function.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Includes the following:
- Participate in daily accounting activities that support timely and accurate reporting and improve department performance.
- Participate in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Investigate and analyze monthly variances.
- Prepare month-end account reconciliations.
- Assist in bank reconciliations, clearing checks, posting cash and recording transfers.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Other Duties:
- Comply with Company safety policies and work rules, applicable regulatory standards (environmental, health, and safety)
- Report environmental, health, and safety issues not immediately resolvable to appropriate manager.
Qualification Requirements:
- Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Actively enrolled with at least 2 semesters completed in a Finance, Accounting, or related degree program at an accredited college or university.
Skills:
- Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; basic Outlook
- Calculate large groups of numbers, correct entries, and post to records in accurate and timely manner.
- Gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with appropriate level of care.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- No or very limited physical effort required.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
