Summary: A Hynes Production Supervisor is the frontline manager responsible for coordinating the workflow of the production floor in a union environment. The Production Supervisor will be responsible for developing and maintaining efficient work methods while collaborating with employees to increase productivity while continuing to maintain a high level of quality and a strong safety record.
As a Plant Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing or production facility. Your role involves managing a team, ensuring production targets are met, maintaining quality standards, and promoting a safe and efficient working environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Includes the following:
- Responsible for executing the established production schedule utilizing union production employees.
- Maintain a working relationship with the Union by managing within the guidelines of the collective bargaining unit.
- Evaluate production employees and provide constructive feedback, coaching, and training.
- Consistently e-mail status updates and escalations as needed to the Hynes team that will drive actions from other departments.
- Review and approve timecards daily for all union employees.
- Complete Product Quality Audits using Smartsheet app.
- Review and Enter production data using Hynes MRP system (MISys)
- Complete FAI’s as needed when Quality Technician is not available to ensure we are running quality products upon startup.
- Perform and document inventory cycle counts as needed using the Cycle Count Smartsheet.
- Monitor employee output using cloud-based reporting and analytics platform
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing the workforce in established policies and procedures.
- Communicate maintenance needs to Maintenance manager using CMMS
- Perform and document Plant Safety Audits.
- Perform a shift handoff with incoming supervisor to ensure a smooth transition from one shift to the next.
- Adhere to and enforce all Company Rules and Regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Team Management:
- Supervise and lead a team of production workers, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and adherence to production schedules.
- Production Planning:
- Collaborate with production planners to establish daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on demand forecasts and resource availability.
- Quality Control:
- Monitor and enforce quality control standards to ensure that products meet specifications. Implement corrective actions as needed to address quality issues.
- Process Optimization:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency gains. Implement changes to enhance overall plant performance.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Enforce and promote adherence to safety protocols and guidelines. Conduct regular safety inspections and address potential hazards promptly.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule and perform routine maintenance on plant equipment. Minimize downtime through effective maintenance planning.
- Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory levels, ensuring that raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods are appropriately managed to meet production requirements.
- Training and Development:
- Provide training and development opportunities for plant personnel. Foster a culture of continuous learning and skill development.
- Communication:
- Maintain clear and open communication channels with other departments, including logistics, procurement, and quality control, to ensure seamless operations.
- Performance Metrics:
- Establish key performance indicators to measure plant performance.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and environmental guidelines.
- Conflict Resolution:
- Address interpersonal conflicts and employee concerns promptly and effectively. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Qualification Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of production processes, quality control, and health and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles is advantageous.
Education and/or Experience: Proven experience as Shift Supervisor. 3-5 years’ experience in leading and managing production workers.
