Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Process Engineer with a Six Sigma Black Belt certification to lead continuous improvement initiatives, optimize processes, and drive operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process engineering, lean methodologies, and data-driven decision-making to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Includes the following:
- Lead Engineering Support for Operations Group (operators, production, and tooling set-up) to execute projects to improve operational performance, cost efficiency and quality.
- Analyze current processes and identify opportunities for line optimization and waste reduction.
- Utilize data-driven problem-solving techniques to assess process gaps and implement solutions.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for improved process control and consistency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Use statistical tools (SPC, DOE, regression analysis, etc.) for process analysis and improvement.
- Train and mentor Green Belts and other team members in Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards in all process improvement projects.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action planning for process issues.
- Work with stakeholders to develop and track KPIs and performance metrics.
- Design tooling and fixtures for production as needed.
- Helps maintain item master, BOM and router creation in the ERP system.
- Executes Engineering Change Notices when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or Engineering Technology. Preferred experience manufacturing, Tool and Die, roll forming and stamping.
Skills:
- 5 years of experience in process engineering, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement.
- Strong proficiency in Lean, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and DMAIC methodology.
- Hands-on experience with statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, Excel, etc.).
- Expertise in data visualization, process mapping, and workflow automation.
- Strong problem-solving, project management, and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- Familiarity with ISO or other regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Experience with automation, Industry 4.0, and digital transformation initiatives, a plus.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, sit for long periods. Use small tools and lift 50 pounds.
Work Environment: Manufacturing and mill environment, office (some travel required)
