The EHS Specialist (2nd Shift) oversee and administer the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety programs at Hyosung HICO. Provide leadership to meet the requirements of federal, state and local laws, industry standards, customer specifications, and company specifications applicable to environmental, health and safety.
Summary :
THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING :
- Implements and maintains the Company Safety Management System (CSMS) and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs at the Hyosung HICO facility / operations. Recommends changes or improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the CSMS / EHS programs.
- Under the scope of the CSMS and EHS, develops appropriate facility-wide policies, procedures, practices and training, as required. Ensures company policies, procedures, practices and training are aligned with the requirements of the CSMS / EHS.
- Conduct or ensure the completion of the CSMS / EHS requirements for the Hyosung HICO facility / operations.
- Under the Environmental Management System (EMS), performs duties as EMS Coordinator responsible for compliance with the program.
- Develops EHS targets and objectives. Monitors progress toward completion of objectives; document and report progress on quarterly basis.
- Establishes, coordinates, performs, and / or participates in internal and external EHS audits. Assures adequacy and implementation of responses; confirm effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
- In conjunction with EHS consultants, leads site-specific EHS risk assessments. Documents results and implements measures for improvement. Revise or modify facility procedures to address hazards and risks and minimize their impact on Hyosung HICO personnel.
- Maintains appropriate state & local EHS permits, including required tests, inspections, & reporting. Obtains new and revised permits as needed.
- Assures compliance with applicable EHS federal, state, and local regulations and / or requirements.
- In collaboration with supervisors and managers, investigates all work-related incidents (injury / near-miss / property damage / environmental spills) and develops / implements corrective actions to prevent a recurrence. Works closely with HR / Supervisors to return workers to modified / full duty.
- Responsible for providing / coordinating assistance to injured worker, including but not limited to attending first treatment care visit, while ensuring necessary documentation is completed by health care provider.
- Participates in and leads emergency responses and addresses employee EHS and tracks incidents - including Days Away and Days of Restricted Work Activity.
- Coordinates with Department Managers to develop and lead Safety Committee meetings.
- Directs investigations into Hyosung HICO EHS events and incidents. Provide feedback on root cause and appropriate corrective actions. Monitor corrective actions and responses, and follow-up when required.
- Coordinates employee EHS training, orientation, and emergency drills and documents programs by writing, revising and maintaining work instructions, procedures and visual aids.
- Inspects equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions, including Job Safety Analysis.
- Prepare monthly status and performance reports.
- Know Hyosung HICO's Safety, Environmental, and Quality Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.
