Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer will be designing, developing 3D systems models and components for production designs. Prepare and revise drawings for using CAD. Enter BOM and BOM data into the company business system. Provide guidance and counsel to Engineering staff in best design practices.

SUMMARY :

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING :

• Draft, prepare and review detail drawings of unusual, complex, or original design, working with design originators.
• Create designs from verbal or written instructions.
• Function as a designer for guidance, problem resolution, and engineering contact for the assigned design group.
• Ensure that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation, and operation are resolved by the drawings produced.
• Exercise independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on a knowledge of the design intent.
• May occasionally interpret and review general designs prepared by others to complete details.
• Interface with Korean Design team to perform the mechanical design for transformers and associated components.
• Register design outputs such as design documents, drawings and modeling to SAP system or other design systems in required dates from SAP.
• Develop 3D models and drawings for new parts and assemblies, based on Electrical design outputs.
• Participate in new-hire employee training, provide advice and counsel to Mechanical engineers and Designers in best design practices, geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
• Create and revise General Arrangement Layouts.
• Support purchasing department during quotation, including cost and delivery estimates, based on design information and drawings.
• Register designed transformer components to SAP system including cost, delivery and detailed technical information.
• Prepare the work order sheet or self-inspection sheet for production and release to production team.
• Participate in product design changes and new product development processes.
• Support and assist the engineering team and engineering manager as needed.
• Further the goals and positive, professional image of Hyosung HICO through interaction with other departments and vendors.
• Understand and work under the direction of the appropriate HICO policy and / or procedure.
• Know HICO's Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.
