We are seeking skilled Boiler Plant Operators for the Hot Springs VA Medical Center. This is W2 contract 1 year opportunity. This position requires experienced professionals to operate and maintain a boiler plant with four boilers ensuring safe and efficient operations in a critical healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Operate boilers with a total capacity of 55000 pounds of steam per hour ensuring efficient combustion and compliance with air emission regulations.
- Use electronic hydraulic and pneumatic controls along with meters and DDC computergenerated data to monitor and adjust boiler operations.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on boilers burners feed water systems and associated equipment.
- Conduct chemical testing of boiler water and apply appropriate treatments to maintain water quality.
- Maintain the Medical Center s water supply systems including pumps water softeners and chlorination systems.
- Respond to emergencies such as power outages by operating backup generators to sustain operations.
- Adhere to VA safety protocols including lockout / tagout procedures and confined space regulations.

Education
Knowledge of steam generation, VA safety codes, and water tube / fire tube boiler operations. Familiarity with Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plans for handling large fuel oil systems. Proficiency in operating auxiliary equipment such as reverse osmosis units, fuel delivery systems, and water softeners. Ability to conduct chemical tests for boiler water and apply appropriate treatments. Knowledge of EPA standards for potable water disinfection and legionella prevention. South Dakota
