Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Operations Lead - Materials based at our Berea, Kentucky office.
What you will do:
- Set strategic direction for the operational materials flow team, overseeing both salaried direct reports and hourly indirect reports.
- Ensure team provides robust support for manufacturing processes.
- Drive production requirements and develop materials metrics aligned with HYMH’s strategic objectives and initiatives.
- Direct the execution of shop floor material flow, floor replenishment, shipping, receiving, kitting, and stores functions.
- Ensure accurate execution of inventory handling, movement, transactional accuracy, and proper storage/preservation.
- Lead the HY-Pull Materials execution within the facility, collaborating cross-functionally with Supply Chain and Manufacturing Assembly.
- Manage the transition to kitting/sequencing and drive adherence to HY-Pull systems.
- Oversee the execution of finished product shipments, ensuring compliance with FTZ regulations and standards.

- Manage physical inventories across the plant, including any secondary warehouses as applicable.
- Oversee inventory levels in key areas, including Supermarket, Stores, and other controlled locations.
- Foster continuous improvement in people and process development to enhance operational efficiency.
- Identify, develop, and distribute metrics that support the Materials Operational Team’s activities, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports, as well as project presentations.
- Possess formal leadership training, along with post-secondary education, seminars, workshops, and in-house developmental programs.
- Manufacturing: Must have gained a high level of production flow and material flow system knowledge through working within a manufacturing environment using MRP and/or Supply Management principles.
- HYPull (DFT) Knowledge: This position requires extensive knowledge of the HYPull (DFT) manufacturing process, gained through at least 5 years of experience working in a DFT environment.
- Communication: Post-secondary education, workshops, seminars, in-house developmental programs, and on-the-job training (OJT).
- Analytical Thinking: Significant analytical ability to resolve complex problems. Ability to use various problem-solving processes to implement permanent corrective actions.
- Workload Management: Excellent skills in planning/organizing and time management, including team performance. Demonstrated ability to be proactive and take initiative, exercising judgment to attain team objectives.
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Over seven years of experience in leading materials movement within a manufacturing environment.
- A minimum of three years of leadership experience managing both professional and hourly labor (preferred).
Skills, Experience & Abilities
- Effective leadership and mentorship skills
- Ensure effective material flow operations across the plant, including, planning and controlling inventory levels.
- Managing material flow to support upstream and downstream production processes.
- Ensuring on-time delivery of components to points of use
- Supporting HYPull Materials within HYMH and the supplier base
- Developing continuous improvement projects focused on enhancing material flow and component delivery.
- Managing inventory accuracy levels
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships between facility operations and global supply chain teams (25%)
- Drive high execution of material delivery to achieve exceptional levels of First Time Through Part Availability
- Continuously monitor obsolescence and excess inventory to maintain optimal inventory levels.
