As a Lift System Project Test Engineer, you will have responsibility for leading a team that ensures structural components, weldments, bearings, sensors, hydraulic cylinders, and valves are robustly validated.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans (performance and durability tests) for systems and components.
- Create and execute design of experiments.
- Use statistical tools to calculate system and component reliability. Identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Implement data acquisition schemes/programs. Analyze and synthesize test data.
- Provide recommendations for design optimization via benchmarking, team design reviews and product tear downs.
- Identify and resolve development issues by working closely with design groups, internal stakeholders, and suppliers.
- Communicate within both informal and formal settings. Make presentations to Sr. Leaders. Create written reports for data and knowledge retention.
- Provide onsite supervision and mentoring to others, such as test engineers and test technicians. Motivate, Inspire. Prioritize and direct day-to-day work.
- Maintain up-to-date work priorities and project schedules that balance priorities, people, resources, and time.
- Troubleshoot field/service issues.
- Evaluate industry trends and implement new technologies and protocols that improve product design and validation.
- Take a leadership role by identifying and implementing processes that improve efficiency and quality of validation testing.
- Work hands-on in a shop environment and operate lift trucks, with training.
- Maintain a quality focus with a close attention to detail to ensure accuracy in design, testing, and documentation.
- BS/MS in Engineering with 6-10 year’s work experience in the product development and test engineering field.
- Knowledge/skill in vehicle, automotive, industrial equipment, materials handling, agricultural or similar technologies with emphasis on structural and hydraulic systems.
- Experience applying risk assessment tools (e.g., DFMEA, Boundary and Parameter Diagrams, Change Point, Use Case).
- Working experience performing reliability analysis using Weibull distribution to predict product life and failure rates.
- Experience with Data acquisition systems such as SOMAT EDAQ, Vector CANalyzer including knowledge of Automotive type CANbus communication.
- Troubleshooting and structured problem-solving skills using industry accepted principles and methods to resolve development issues w/focus on DMAIC and 8D.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Red-X Journeyman certification.
- Certified Fluid Power Specialist (CFPS). Experience testing and troubleshooting hydraulic systems, pumps, valves.
- Experience with Siemens Teamcenter.
- Knowledge of Minitab, MATLAB or similar.
