Schedule: 3rd Shift; Training on 1st shift for 90 days
Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)
Job Summary
This is an Inspector trainee position in our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) department. Employees in this position will become a certified for Hytek Finishes as an NDT Inspector. The individual in this role will be considered an Inspector Trainee until certified by the Level III NDT Responsible in each of the three areas of NDT Inspection performed at Hytek (Magnetic Particle, Florescent Penetrant, and Nital Etch Inspection) and are able to perform the work independently. On the job training, as well as study time is granted to all Inspector Trainees.

Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and fumes from metal finishing chemicals. Temperatures in the work environment can fluctuate with outside weather conditions. Due to the manufacturing environment, Personal Protection Equipment is required including safety glasses, goggles, aprons, rubber boots, and gloves (provided by Company).
Salary Range for position: $16.66 - $45.00 per hour. *Must be able to show proof of NAS410 Magnetic Particle and Liquid Penetrant certifications, including on-the-job training hours, and provide details as to the type of magnetic particle worked with, industry (aircraft parts specific), and type of penetrant (A, B, C, D), all of the above will determine hourly rate within the $24.00 per hr. to $45.00 per hr. range. $1.00 per hour additional will be provided for 3rd shift differential pay.

Responsibilities
- Work closely with experienced Inspectors and NDT Level III Responsible to complete work and prioritize tasks.
- Follow technique card, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from experienced NDT Inspectors; and Operator Self Verification inspection has occurred.
- General review of paperwork and Operator Self Verification inspection of job to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
- Prepare parts prior to operations; use proper tooling and fixtures, when applicable.
- Familiar with Quality Assurance requirements & rework procedures.
- Familiar with engineering drawing notations.
- Develop new product processing and identify areas for improvement.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to drive positive change in productivity, delivery, and service.
- Work and coordinate with other departments in order to meet customer demand.
- Other duties as assigned, including cross-training in other Production areas as work flow demands.
Qualifications
- Ability to pass Written and Practical examinations prior to Hytek certifications. All Trainees are required to become NDT Certified Inspectors through Hytek's training program.
- Demonstrated ability to train and positively influence others.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work both independently, as a team, and with customers (both internally and externally).
- Excellent accuracy with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
- Ability to use/learn Lean Tools and techniques to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
- Required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program and pass an initial and annual Industrial Eye Exam.
- Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
- Ability to Read/Write/Communicate in English.
- This position requires access to export-controlled information and all applicants must satisfy U.S. export control regulations with authorization to work in the U.S. Non-U.S. persons would require an export license in order to work in our facility.
Education/Previous Experience Requirements
- 1-2 years in manufacturing environment a plus.
- Candidates must have previous Level II certification in Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, and/or Nital Etch, including well-documented OJT training hours. (Candidates May still apply IF they have completed one Level II area such as Magnetic or Liquid and can show OJT hours).
- In process of NDT certifications for Magnetic Particle, Penetrant Inspection, or Nital Etch is a plus.
