Automotive Prototype Development Technician
- Repair / update / troubleshoot Prototype Test vehicles for Ride & Handling, NVH, and Total Vehicle Evaluation Teams
- Mainly responsible for supporting Chassis tuning activities
- Support Snow and Wet Tire Test trips
Support CPG test trips (Towing / Tire Test & Evaluation / General chassis tuning)
Install, configure and operate test equipment and instrumentation used in automotive testing :Transducer installation and calibration
Data collection and validation of data integrityProvide general automotive technician support :Remove and replace vehicle components, including prototype components
Troubleshoot and diagnose complex vehicle issues across all vehicle systemsComponent modification and fabricationWork cooperatively in a team environment with other technicians and engineersOther Responsibilities :Fully document vehicle repairs and modifications in a database environmentParts and equipment orderingMaintain shop equipment and toolsMaintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environmentTravel up to 20% of time domestically and internationallyCandidates applying for positions with Hyundai KIA must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Educational Requirements :
Associates Degree, Automotive or Industrial Technology preferredASE Master Certification desiredExperience working in culturally diverse team environmentRelated Experience Requirements (# of years, industry, etc.) :
Experience working in automotive development or testingExperience with vehicle data acquisition systems and transducers, including thermocouples, pressure transducers, load cells, etc.Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity and ethical behaviorRequired Skills and Knowledge :
Experience with all vehicle systems (engine, transmission, HVAC, chassis, electrical & body)PC skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)Excellent CAN tools and data analysis skillsAbility to multi-task and meet time constraintsExcellent vehicle diagnostic skillsAutomotive technology certification, degree or equivalentExcellent Communication and writing skillsExcellent interpersonal relationship skills working in a culturally diverse environmentAny Additional Certifications Required :
Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving recordPhysical Demands, Work Environment, Travel Expectations :
Shop Environment - exposure to fuel, compressed air / gas, emissions and exhaust fumes; pinching, tripping, electrical, and chemical hazards; bending and stooping required; must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and work safely with hand power tools. May work in outdoors or indoors in extremes of weather and temperature. Safety glasses required.Field Environment - Field temperature ranges from -20º F to 160º F; altitude ranges from -300 ft. below sea level to 14,000 ft. above sea level. May require bending and stooping and lifting while removing and attaching 5000 lb. trailers to vehicles, installing instrumentation and repairing vehicle failures. May require operation of vehicles for total of 1000 miles over 2-3 day period. Safety glasses required when working on vehicles.Proving Ground Environment - exposure to weather and temperature extremes - 32ºF to 100ºF ; high winds; exposure to hazardous fuels and oils; exposure to emissions and noiseBase Salary : $24 / hr. ~ $26 / hr.
Salary : $24 - $26
