HYUNDAI AMERICA TECHNICAL CENTER, INC. (HATCI) is currently looking for a Counsel at its Superior Township, MI location to perform the following duties :
An attorney who is an excellent communicator, team player, detail-oriented, willing to learn, self-motivated, confident, and interested in helping create a happy, healthy, and productive work environment on the Legal Team. The ideal candidate must possess planning and organizational skills, the ability to adapt to changing priorities, be deadline-driven, have sound judgment and decision-making skills, be able to effectively handle sensitive and confidential information, work well under pressure and be a multitasker. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO :
Commercial - Work with business units, purchasing, and commercial legal team members to ensure that all contracts have proper provisions regarding intellectual property, cybersecurity, privacy, and any other technical aspects.Privacy - Work with internal stakeholders to ensure that any activities and projects consider and abide by privacy laws and regulations; support ongoing compliance with changing regulatory aspects of data collection and use, privacy disclosures and transparency, and related issues; and assist with the development, implementation, and management of compliance and risk management strategies relating to global data privacy and protection laws and regulations.Cybersecurity - Work with internal stakeholders and information technology to ensure that all activities meet all cybersecurity laws and regulations in addition to meeting Hyundai's global standards; support ongoing compliance with changing regulatory aspects of data protection, IT security, and data governance; and assist with the development, implementation, and management of compliance and risk management strategies relating to cybersecurity laws and regulations.Export Compliance - Work closely with the engineering teams to perform export compliance activities including classifying projects, documenting exceptions, applying for licenses; provide legal guidance and support for internal teams on matters related to export controls, sanctions, customs compliance, and other trade regulations; analyze and interpret new laws and regulations and assist in devising compliance methods that meet business goals and objectives; and improving the process where appropriate.Miscellaneous - Any overflow work management assigns or during his / her absence.What you will need :
The ability to understand and consider business objectives in a legal function.Demonstrate strict attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in work.Possess prompt responsiveness to internal client requests with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and be self-motivated.Willingness to work in a team-based environment with collaboration among co-workers.Ability to organize and prioritize an ever-changing workload.Proficient with Computer and especially Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).Required Experience :
Bachelor degree in a STEM discipline and Juris Doctor degree, admitted to the Michigan BarTwo to Five Years' experience as an attorneyCandidates applying for positions with Hyundai must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.Technical backgroundValid Driver's License and Satisfactory Driving RecordPreferred Experience :
